The Brand Execution Gap 2026
October 29, 2026
Most companies have brand guidelines, approved assets and templates. So why does off-brand content still reach customers?
We surveyed 607 brand owners and content creators at mid-market companies across the US, UK, Canada and Australia to find out where brand consistency breaks down, why it happens and what teams can do about it.
Key Findings From the Brand Execution Gap Report
The research reveals where brand consistency breaks down: creators still apply brand rules manually, search for information outside their tools and sometimes discover mistakes after content has been shared. Brand owners spend hours helping teams close those gaps.
83% of content creators still apply brand assets by hand, even after starting from a template.
58% of content creators leave their content tool to look up a brand color or font.
42% of content creators have sent content out and only found out afterward that it was off-brand.
47% of brand owners say the biggest obstacle to brand consistency is that colleagues know the basics but lack the skills to apply them.
62% of brand owners keep their brand guidelines in three or more places.
66% of brand owners spend three or more hours a week on brand questions, reviews and fixes.
